You can put text above and below your gallery now. It used to be broken in that it would not display anything other than the video gallery, but it’s fixed now.

Hi – really nice! Quick question – when you click on a thumbnail – the page loads at the bottom – or rather it goes to the bottom and I have to scroll back to the top – any way to fix this issue?
April 24th, 2008 at 5:27 pm
Hm. I’ll have to look into this. That doesn’t happen on my browser. Could you tell me which browser you are using?
April 25th, 2008 at 5:50 am
I’m using safari…
April 25th, 2008 at 3:02 pm
Ah, I see what you mean. I’ll see about getting that fixed. If not today, then I’ll fix it Sunday. Thanks for letting me know!
April 26th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
Does it work with the newest version of wordpress? Or rather, version 2.5? I tried to implement it and got an error, so I deactivated it.
thanks.
April 26th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
This blog is 2.5. I also have it running on WordPress-MU and also 2.3.3 (running on IIS).
April 27th, 2008 at 8:56 pm
Josh, I believe I have fixed the issue of the page jumping to the bottom when you click on a thumbnail.
Known outstanding items still left to do:
1 – replace some string-replace hackiness with regex
2 – fix a bug where videos with certain characters in the description don’t load properly via their javascript call
May 4th, 2008 at 1:18 am
OK, I fixed some outstanding bugs.
1 – I removed some very hacky string replace function calls in favor of using regex. Most of the blatant hackiness is now gone from this plugin.
2 – The bugs I was seeing with certain description text is now fixed.
Let me know if anyone finds any problems with it and I’ll fix them as soon as I can.

Could you possibly the more conventional arrow with page numbers at the bottom? It’s not good usability to have people clicking through the arrows with no idea of how many pages there are in the set, so this would be a great improvement I think.
Just something like the typical…
…would be wonderful!
August 19th, 2008 at 1:25 pm
OK, so I made the first typo but I guess my example got take out b/c it thought it was html
.
So, could you possibly incorporate the more conventional arrows with page numbers at the bottom…
[left arrow] Previous 1 2 3 4 5 Next [right arrow]
Thanks!
Jeff
August 19th, 2008 at 6:53 pm
Jeff – That makes a lot of sense. Thank you for the suggestion. I’ve put it on my to-do list. It will probably be next week before I am able to work on this.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:55 pm
Jeff, I haven’t forgotten about your request. We have been very busy with some client website work (which is great) and haven’t had a chance.
September 21st, 2008 at 10:44 pm
OK, Jeff, I finally added pagination to the plugin. Let me know if this suits your needs. You can see it in action in the video gallery examples here.
It may need a more fancy system for galleries with many many pages to have something like 1 2 3 …. 99 100, but I think I’ll leave it simple until someone needs something more sophisticated. I think this will work for the vast majority.
December 28th, 2008 at 5:53 am
hallo xondie,
simple and powerfull module
now i can create a video gallery in minutes
really thanks
my quesstion is how to make a video gallery on this example page? what code u use?
December 28th, 2008 at 10:30 pm
Hi Beracun,
I’m not exactly sure what you mean by your question. On this example page, the gallery is added in the usual way according to the instructions. This is a WordPress site so I installed the WordPress module and then added [Insert Video Gallery videojazz] in the content and it showed up.

Hello,
I am having pagination problem.. for my site pls let me know what to do for that..
thanks

Harshal – What is the url to get to your video gallery?
April 25th, 2009 at 11:10 am
Hello Xondie,
Thanks for your great plug-in – i love that it looks cool, functions nicely and you can have vids from multiple hosts.
One question: The top “featured” / big video isn’t always loading in my site. Sometimes it helps to dump the cache and refresh, but sometimes it will continue to show only the lower thumbnails.
I am donating now, please help thanks,
Eve

Nice plugin! Is there a way to make the video load with having to click it?
April 27th, 2009 at 1:59 am
Hi Eve,
I’ve notice that happen on occasion as well. I don’t know this for sure, but I think this results when the connect to vodpod is slow for some reason. So it doesn’t get the data back for the main video before the page loads with the html. You’re the first one to mention it so I hadn’t worried about it. Now that I know others are seeing this behavior as well, I’ll try to see if there is something I can do about it. I am open to anyone’s suggestions/ideas.
April 27th, 2009 at 2:11 am
pandora – Thanks for writing. Glad you like the plugin!
It’s theoretically possible to change some PHP code and make the main video autoplay when you first load the page. But it isn’t a feature that is built into the current plugin that can be changed with configuration or anything like that.
May 2nd, 2009 at 12:54 am
Is this plugin compatible with wp 2.7.x
May 2nd, 2009 at 1:11 am
Yes, I have tested it on 2.7.x
June 9th, 2009 at 1:21 am
nice plugin, i’m using it. i just have a quick question.. my website’s background is blue.. is there any way to change the gallery bg color to something else other than white?
June 9th, 2009 at 1:32 am
x0×0 – So glad the plugin is working out for you. If you know CSS, you can change any of the colors you wish in gallery.css. I think if you search for background-color (I think) you should find it pretty easily.
July 1st, 2009 at 11:32 pm
Awesome plugin! just started using it.
just one question: is it any way to show the direct link for the video?
I mean, not the javascript one, but a link that the users could access the video directly, and won’t have to browse the entire gallery to watch it.
Thanks a lot for this one!
Asaf.
July 2nd, 2009 at 9:50 pm
Asaf – I think this is a very good idea. I will implement it when I get a chance. Not sure when that will be though.
July 4th, 2009 at 12:18 am
alright, that’s great.
hope you will update me when it will happen.
Cheers
July 21st, 2009 at 1:47 am
Asaf – I have now added a link to the original video from the gallery. On occasion, a video will come in from Vodpod that does not provide the “original url” field and in those cases, no link will appear. Otherwise, there will be a link under the description that says “Original Video URL”.
I just checked it in to the WordPress SVN, so hopefully it will be available for download soon. I guess just wait until the “Last Updated” date says 2009-7-20.
July 21st, 2009 at 11:02 am
Actually, the “Last Updated” date still hasn’t changed, but I see in SVN that the correct version is there. So maybe give it a try anyway.
August 1st, 2009 at 1:12 pm
First of all, many thanks for your great efforts! I’ve checked the new version and it worked brilliantly.
however, it wasn’t what I really meant. what I was looking for, if there’s a way, is to show the “internal” link of the video, in the current site.
I know it’s available through Joomla’s Seyret component (http://img39.imageshack.us/i/seyretexample.jpg/), and was hoping that you could bring it to Wordpress’s world
again, thanks a lot.
August 2nd, 2009 at 12:28 am
Ohhhh – that’s a GREAT idea! Haha. Sorry, I misunderstood. That would be tricky but I think it should be possible. I think. Not sure actually. Well….I’ll have to get back to you in a while on that one too.
Thanks (again) for the suggestion Asaf!
October 23rd, 2009 at 3:05 am
Thanks for this great plugin. It was really easy to set up. My question is about vodpod itself, I guess: how do you change the thumbnail image for a video? There’s a link that says “replace thumbnail”, but it doesn’t do anything. When I click on the thumbnail in the edit panel, it greys out but I’m not sure what to do.
Thanks,
Laura
October 25th, 2009 at 10:09 pm
Laura –
I’m afraid I don’t know too much about the details of using vodpod itself. I have always found the guys over at vodpod to be very responsive to questions though, so you ought to try contacting them.
November 4th, 2009 at 5:47 pm
hey xondie Awesome plugin! I am having the same problem as eve except here in korea the main video never loads, even when the cache is clear. Should I inquire with vodpod or is there something I can do.
My friend suggested that I just embed the first video and see if I can have the clicked gallery video replace. Would this be possible?
thanks for all your hard work.
josh
November 5th, 2009 at 12:07 am
Sorry about that Josh. It’s a known bug. It doesn’t happen for everyone and it doesn’t happen all the time. I think it occurs when the data comes back too slowly. This is on my schedule to fix in the short term, but it might be a couple of weeks before I even start to look at it.
November 19th, 2009 at 12:43 pm
Josh and others with this problem, I believe I have fixed the problem with the main video not loading when you first load the page. It also no longer uses fopen so hopefully that problem is cleared up for people as well.
December 19th, 2009 at 1:56 am
Hi there,
Great plugin. I literally looked for days to find this! I have two questions. How do I remove the pagination from the bottom. I am displaying fixed videos and even though there is not a next page the Next is appearing. I plan on only showing 4 videos so I don’t need the pagination at all.
Second question. Is there a way to move the thumbnail to the top or to the side. Due to the size of the page , users might not see the thumbnails and realize that they can click on any to view in the video. If it is at the top of the page they will figure it out easier. Please let me know how I can do this. Thanks!
Ishu
December 19th, 2009 at 2:10 am
I figured out the pagination removal. I just need to figure out how to move the video thumbnails now. Ideally on the sides or the top. I can do either.
Thanks for your help!

December 20th, 2009 at 9:38 pm
Hi Ishu,
Sorry I did not respond sooner. Your first comment must have come at a busy time for me.
You can move the thumbnails fairly easily by just moving the iframe line. Do a search for “
December 20th, 2009 at 9:41 pm
Whoops, my comment didn’t come through properly.
That should have said:
Do a search for iframe (with an opening angle bracket in front of it) and you will see it. Then move it up in the code. You will want to put it above the line that prints the vp_video_player div, and below the line that prints the vp_container div.
December 23rd, 2009 at 3:36 pm
Xondie,
This didn’t work. In the file vodpod_gallery.php. I moved the container div above the iframe and the the video player div under the iframe. This didn’t work. So then I moved the gallery div right under the iframe. This too didn’t work. Am I in the right file? What am I doing wrong?
Ishu
December 23rd, 2009 at 5:14 pm
Ishu,
If I am looking at the right page (your Reels page) it doesn’t look like the iframe is moved to the correct place. Not sure if you moved it back when it didn’t work. Right now you have the iframe between the CLOSING divs that I had mentioned, but it needs to be with the OPENING divs.
Try adding the iframe line after the OPENING vp_video_player div tag and see if that works.
December 23rd, 2009 at 5:16 pm
Ishu – re-reading your comment, I wonder if you went about this the right way, so I want to restate in case I was unclear earlier. You should not be moving around the divs. The divs should stay where they were originally. You only want to cut and paste the iframe line and move that to the correct place, under the opening vp_video_player.
December 23rd, 2009 at 5:44 pm
xondie,
Sorry I am not catching on. This is what I tried doing first, and it didn’t work. Can you please tell me what file and what line exactly and where exactly to move it to. The entire statement that needs to be moved and the entire statement of where it should be moved to. I have tried all combinations and it’s not working. I only found one line starting with <iframe and the entire statement was rather long.
‘.”\n”;
December 23rd, 2009 at 7:35 pm
Thanks again for all your help and quick responses. You are great, and I love your plugin.
I tried what you say and now I just get a white box above the player. no thumbnails. Any ideas? If you want to take this offline, my email is ishukrishna@gmail.com.
December 23rd, 2009 at 9:13 pm
Oh, I think you need to also move those few PHP lines that first define the variables that are passed. $vodpod_user, $per_page, and a couple of others. I am not at my computer right now so can’t look at the code, but if you can’t figure out which lines, I will look when I get home. They need to be moved above the iframe line.
December 26th, 2009 at 9:29 pm
They are contained within the iframe line before you close it and I did move it when I moved it originally. Do i need to extract just the parameters out? Please do email me ishukrishna@gmail.com. Thanks again for all your help.

Xondie,
Thank for this plugin that seems usefull.
I try to implant it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_3_m6I0p9k
but as you can see, it doesn’t work…
I use the curl version because my host doesn’t allow the get-file function.
Do you have a solution?
Thank a lot
Ced
January 12th, 2010 at 12:10 pm
Sorry, this is the correct URL: http://www.cer-ge.ch/news/?page_id=1375
January 12th, 2010 at 12:56 pm
CER – You need to input your vodpod name as all lower case. In my most recent version of the regular plugin, I have fixed that so that my code makes it all lower case before sending to the vodpod API, but I have not yet updated it in the curl version.

Thanks for your very speedy answer!
All is working good now…
Best regards
January 16th, 2010 at 6:53 am
Fantastic plugin..everything i was looking for except i dont know how to disable autoplay and i need to have a few accounts on the same page. i dont want all the main videos autoplaying at the same time!
January 16th, 2010 at 8:09 pm
Randy,
Usually, the first main video does not autoplay when the page first loads. Normally it only autoplays once you choose a thumbnail. Can you show me an example where it is autoplaying the video when you first load the page? It might be that videos from a particular video site are being loaded with autoplay turned on. I might be able to fix that.
January 25th, 2010 at 7:20 pm
ok. you were right it was just that particular video. The problem im having now is when i place more than 1 gallery on the same page, videos only play in Gallery that is at the top. For instance if i have 2 galleries 1 for Music videos(at the top) and 1 for live performances(at the bottom)..When i click the thumbnails in live performances the video will play in in the music video category. forcing you to scroll back up to view the video..it wouldnt play in its own category.
January 25th, 2010 at 9:34 pm
Yikes. I can see why that might happen. I guess I didn’t test that scenario.
I’ll have to fix this. I’ll try to get to it this weekend, if at all possible. I’ll let you know when it’s fixed.
Thanks for letting me know!
January 26th, 2010 at 3:12 am
YES! Thank you sooooo much.
February 7th, 2010 at 3:10 pm
Hey Just wondering if you got a chance to look into my problem. Thanks Again
February 7th, 2010 at 3:32 pm
Not yet, Randy. It’s on my list and I’ve been thinking on how to fix the code. Sorry it’s taken me so long to get to it.
I think I can actually get to this tonight though. I’ll let you know. It’s my #1 priority with respect to this plugin.
February 7th, 2010 at 8:13 pm
Randy – Thanks for hanging in there. I’ve finally got that bug fixed. Thanks again for letting me know about it.
February 7th, 2010 at 9:36 pm
THANK YOU AGAIN, It is working Superb, this plugin is the best thing since sliced bread. peace
